Overview

Process all aspects of a weekly, biweekly, multi-state payroll for the company. Prepare state tax filing and make payments in a timely manner. Ability to work closely with other team members including Finance and HR to ensure accuracy of all employee data. Analysis of all payroll data to ensure accuracy when processing payroll. This includes employee data, taxes, and employee elections and benefits. Assists in maintaining payroll records and reconciliation for general ledger and assists in reporting payroll information to Management.

Responsibilities

• Process and administer accurate and timely payroll for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Utilize Deltek Costpoint and Deltek Time & Expense to manage and track employee timesheets and leave balances.
• Collaborate with Finance and HR department managers to ensure accurate and up-to-date employee information, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and other payroll-related adjustments.
• Calculate and process employee deductions, including taxes, benefits, retirement contributions, garnishments, and other withholdings.
• Monitor and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolving any discrepancies.
• Generate and distribute payroll reports to management and departments, providing detailed analysis and summaries as needed.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee payroll data and adhere to privacy regulations.
• Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and making recommendations for process improvements.
• Respond to employee inquiries and provide exceptional customer service, resolving payroll-related issues or directing employees to the appropriate resources.
• Prepare and pay payroll taxes includes federal and state requirements in a timely manner given under the timelines for each state.
• Assist with year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and reporting.

Qualifications

Preferred Bachelor’s degree in accounting + 2 years relevant experience
Associate degree in accounting + 3 years relevant experience
or 5 years’ experience

 


• Minimum of 5 years of in-house payroll processing experience, preferably within a government contracting environment.
• Proficiency in using Deltek Costpoint and Deltek Time & Expense software is preferred.
• Strong understanding of payroll principles, tax regulations, and wage and hour laws.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles and experience reconciling payroll-related accounts.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex payroll issues.
• Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize and multitask effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels.
• High level of integrity and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive payroll information.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.1-4 years of Payroll/Accounting experience in a multi-state, union/non-union environment Preferred experience in a shared services/centralized services environment.

Pay Range

USD $45,756.00 - USD $82,356.00 /Yr.
