As leaders in project excellence, LATA has over four decades of proven success in global and domestic markets as a small business specializing in federal government contracting. The Staff Accountant is responsible for working as a part of a team utilizing Deltek Costpoint, verifying accurate reporting of project cost, creating corporate credit card reconciliations, internal & external reporting, and preparing journal entries. This position will require high level analysis as well as the ability to reconcile at the micro level depending upon the project at hand. Problem solving, the ability to see variances within financial data, communication, and the ability to work independently is critical for this position.
• Create and post journal entries in Deltek Costpoint.
• Reviews new project set ups for accuracy and consistency with billing levels.
• Prepares and analyzes reporting for credit cards.
• Reviews and reconciles GL accounts and credit card transactions.
• Assists in month end close process.
• Reconciliation of state/federal tax accounts.
• Support in audit requests and pulling requested items for audits.
• Analyzes monthly unbilled with Project Accountant to ensure all costs are billed accordingly.
• Performs various back up functions to the Senior Accountant as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
• BS Accounting or an Associates degree with 2 years' experience or six years’ experience in accounting or business-related field.
• Work independently and manage multiple tasks, including assignment of proper prioritization, exercise initiative, and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of internal & external financial auditing practices and principals
• Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Accounting Regulations (FAR).
• Knowledge in accounting, accounts receivable, and budgeting principles and theories.
• Knowledge in CostPoint preferred.
• Intermediate-level computer skills.
