Overview

Los Alamos Technical Associates, Inc. (LATA) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced ESH&Q Specialist IV to support and promote a strong Environmental, Safety, Health & Quality culture across project sites and operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and company ESH&Q requirements while proactively driving continuous improvement initiatives related to workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and quality assurance.

 

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on safety professional capable of working independently in dynamic field environments while collaborating closely with project management, craft personnel, subcontractors, and corporate leadership. This individual will be responsible for identifying hazards, conducting audits and inspections, assisting with incident investigations, supporting regulatory compliance efforts, and helping develop and implement site-specific ESH&Q programs and procedures.

 

This role may also include assisting with the development and implementation of project-specific plans such as:
•    Health & Safety Plans (HASP) 
•    Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) 
•    Quality Assurance Plans (QAP)
•    Quality Control Procedures
•    Safety Procedures 

 

The ESH&Q Specialist IV must possess strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence positive safety behaviors across all levels of an organization.

 

Responsibilities

•    Support the ESH&Q Manager with audits, assessment, and corporate ESH&Q reporting
•    Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives as required by project scope. 
•    Document and manage day-to-day project quality requirements, including inventory and material management, inspections, compliance activities, and testing requirements.
•    Strong organizational and process development skills are required. Attention to detail is paramount.
•    Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining site-specific ESH&Q programs, policies, procedures, and initiatives.
•    Identify hazardous elements like chemical, physical, radiological, and biological in the workplace
•    Inspect and evaluate all equipment, practices, and procedures in accordance with safety legislation and government regulations
•    Ensure that the company’s rules and policies are followed, while working on a health and safety project
•    Lead or assist with incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and lessons learned development. 
•    Coordinate and provide necessary training in the areas of safety like first-aid, fire drills, accidents, etc.
•    Maintain good relations and coordination with the staff, management, and external parties to maximize healthy environment and minimize risks
•    Lead and assist colleagues at all levels in carrying out health and safety measures

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 4 years of related experience, or a minimum of 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    Construction or industrial QC/QA experience
•    Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or willingness to obtain
•    OSHA 10-hour Construction Health and Safety Course (30-hour preferable) within the last three years
•    Competency in the following areas: Excavation, Scaffolding, Fall Protection, Hazardous Energy, Confined Space, and Rigging
•    Literate in Microsoft Office package
•    Ability to obtain a US security clearance 
•    Must be willing to travel

Pay Range

USD $79,027.50 - USD $142,224.90 /Yr.
